1. What drives you to make a difference in life? What impact do you think you will have in the future due to your drive?

My drive to bring change into the world is fueled by the simple hunger for change I see every single day. I have aspired to pursue a career rooted in the service of others as a nurse practitioner specializing in delivery and midwifery. I hope to serve parts of the world that have been previously ignored. Through my experiences, especially my service work, it has become apparent to me that there is an immense need for change. That said, I believe humanity is filled with individuals who possess a profound capacity for positive change. Whether it be with the women of Niger who help to protect other women and babies from tetanus,

Community is people. I have been fortunate to be a part of countless communities, including my high school, my town and my global community. The one thing that identifies a community member, is their contribution to said community. One of my absolute favorite communities I belong to is this beautiful tiny town, nestled deep in the mountains. Growing up here, I have the utmost respect for this perfect place, and I feel it has been my duty to contribute and give back to this community. I hope that my contributions to Glenwood Springs can be enumerated to more than one simple act, however, my involvement with Kiwanis has most likely been the greatest. It has endowed me the ability to have hands on impact, even in the simple things. Through Kiwanis and the Salvation Army, I have participated in bell ringing and raising funds for the less fortunate for quite a few years. Every holiday season, I am eager to go out into my community and collect change, ring the bell, and smile at passersby. These little things are the experience in which I have learned the most. This opportunity, and Kiwanis in general have shown me that the little efforts in life matter. That every single individual's actions and impacts truly and fundamentally matter. These experience in my community have rounded my understanding of community as a collection of people from all walks of life, making their contributions, big or

Community is important to me. I grew up in a small town where you knew your neighbors, and chances were that you lived down the street from at least one of your teachers. Where every summer Saturday, the entire block would meet in somebody’s backyard- a fire would be lit, and all of us kids would roast marshmallows and hotdogs, and play on the wooden swing-set, playing out stories and adventures. My community wasn’t just a place where I lived and went to school- it was a family.…

A community environment serves an important function in shaping our personal development and belief system. The community an individual grows up in says a lot about that individual as a person. With strengths, comes weaknesses and every community differs in many ways. The community I grew up in may differ from the community others lived in, and that’s what makes us all unique and different from one another. Whether I had other people out there or not, I had everything I needed with just a field and bases. Doing my community service at LGSA brought back many memories and gave me the opportunity to observe certain things that I would have never realized before. While doing my community service I observed children who had no idea how to even play the game of softball out on the field enjoying just an outdoor activity while trying to learn each aspect step by step. When I was younger I didn’t realize how much of a help LGSA was until I actually did community service for the organization. While observing all the kids who were out on the softball field that day it made me realize how thankful I am for LGSA and all the other community parks that are in each town and city.…
