Decent Essays
All of my academic career the statement, “We are preparing you for college” has been repeated more times than most of the curriculum I have been taught has. Now it is time to choose where the next chapter of my life will take place, and what my future will hold. I am choosing to attend Indiana University Southeast, because this offers the best opportunity based on my carrier interest and my financial situation. My mother is the only member of my family to attend college, and she only obtained her associates degree. This means I will be the first member of my family to graduate with a bachelors degree. I made a promise to my mother that I will achieve this goal, and will become something with my degree. All of my life I have loved dealing

Although our problem is about colleges, we don’t want students to be confused on what to do in life after college. We would get freshmen and sophomores focused on careers so as juniors they can find a college to match their career. Students would use the information we give them to fill out a worksheet for both careers and colleges to save for later use. We recognized that some students may not be interested in doing this so we decided to schedule an assembly in February where current seniors and former alumni give their experiences, stories, and regrets while preparing and applying to college. We are hoping that this will encourage students to do the worksheets and dedicate more time to preparing for…

I would first like to thank Frostburg State University for accepting me in their institution and giving me the chance to further my education after my high school scholar years. I have enjoyed my time at Frostburg State University and with hard work I have been able to make the dean’s list and be accepted in the Honors program during the first semester of my freshman year. I hope to continue to work even harder during the second semester and throughout my school career. As a small university, Frostburg has enabled me to benefit from many things, such as the small size classes. Now that I have gotten used to college and life on campus, I believe it is time to continue to push myself to work harder and to attend an institution where I could be academically challenged and can be surrounded by many people who share my profession.…

While at a Community College, I have had time to grow and mature into a finer young adult than I came out of High School. I learned to live on my own and take care of myself, while continuing to acquire training and education. It was also a time I took to figure who I am and who I want to be. With that in mind, I have found that I desire to continue growing at a different institution. While I have learned a significant amount of things in my current college and enjoyed every minute of it, I will be graduating from its program soon and wish to explore opportunities elsewhere.…

Life's a journey worth taking the unbeaten path. That is why, despite looking up to my loving parents and having the utmost respect for them, I have taken a different road than they did. However, undergoing any challenge without their guiding experience can certainly prove to be an undertaking. I, a first generation college student, am the pioneer of higher education for my family. Though I join many others in lunging out into the world for the first time, I am doing so without having a father or mother to tell me how to tackle the college experience.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

At an early age, I didn’t understand the concept of an immigrant family and that our resources were very limited. It wasn’t until I got older, that I finally understood and recognized the struggle that my family went and still continues to go through. My realization began when I was about 11-years old and I noticed that my father not only worked for his own small gardening service, but that he also took my older brothers to work with him. I knew it was a time for serious measures because my brothers started helping my father when they were close to my age, and they continued throughout their whole school years. Everything was going normal in my family then, we rented a house that was in the name of my aunt, had enough money for the bills,…

In this case debrief, our group will be assessing the issues stated before, and how they relate to Indiana University as a whole, the Indiana University community, and what improvements the university can implement to make the learning experience of the students better. Indiana University prides itself on being the largest university in Indiana that provides innovation, creativity, and academic-freedom to its students. However, for this goal to be accomplished high student enrollment is essential, which is why this case impacts Indiana University. After high school, students weigh the decision of attending traditional higher education institutions or going straight into professional schools. Attending a traditional higher education institution allows a student “to practice analytical thinking and communicate well in written and oral modes, to frame issues in historical and multicultural contexts, to work independently and in team settings, to assume both vocational and civic roles and responsibilities, and to apply their knowledge and skills in complex problem-solving in an evermore complex and rapidly changing world” (Shinn, 2014, p. 10).…
