The amount of knowledge I received, the deep and impactful relations I fostered with my patients and the motivation I felt to go far and beyond for my patients was amplified. The interaction I had with the adult patients and the insight I gave them about their problems comforted them and their confidence in me humbled me. Working as a Medical officer there, I learned to be self-reliant and adaptable. I also learned that through educating my patients about their ailments, I could help them prevent the infectious diseases prevalent there as well as make them mindful of which symptoms to look for so they would seek help sooner. Working in these conditions was challenging and gave me a perspective into the way the rural healthcare system worked in India. But it also made me realize that to have a larger impact and to administer better patient care, I needed to further my education and give myself the best opportunities possible.
