Personal Statement: The Marine Science Summer Lab Experience

A Chance to Participate
The Marine Science Summer Lab Experience sounded like such a fun experience when I was introduced to it by my AP Biology teacher. This is a chance for any student interested in learning about marine biology. Over the course of one week, student will be able to research and participate in many activities and projects involving marine biology. I have no idea what I want to do after my high school career. All I know is that I want to do something related to biology for the rest of my life. There are so many possibilities of majors and career paths involving biology, and marine biology is an excellent example.
My AP Biology teacher introduced this program to my whole class and I became very interested. In the 8th grade, I had considered a career in marine biology, but after entering high school, my mind was absolutely blank. I had absolutely no idea about what I wanted to do. But after hearing about this opportunity, I decided that I had to apply and take the chance. By participating in this program, I would actually be productive over the summer instead of sitting around and wasting time. This program would look amazing on my college

Sure, learning in class is great, but this program provides the chance to actually have fun while learning and I would voluntarily do it. When I learn in class, sometimes it feels forced. The program will give me a chance to want to learn and want to try new things. For my fellow participants, I could contribute my ideas and insight and compare what I learned in my AP Biology to what they learned in their classes. Perhaps we could exchange understanding. For example, suppose I am struggling in comprehending how environmental factors affect organisms. Fellow participants can offer their understanding and I can learn about a topic in a new way, maybe even enhancing my previous
