Some pet peeves are absolutely enraging. One on my pet peeves happens to be incompletion. My mother has, on more than one occasion, began cleaning her seemingly tornado stricken bedroom only to get distracted by a shoe box full of high school memorabilia. Some people, including my mom, would blame this behavior on poor attention abilities. Personally, I blame her lack of perseverance. She tends to disagree with me because of our differing definitions of the word. I believe perseverance is the will to continue through pain. To understand what perseverance means to me, it is necessary to define the word “pain.” For the purposes of the definition, I believe pain is anything causing discomfort (whether it be physical or mental), boredom, or suffering in any degree. The degree of pain being endured describes the severity of the level of perseverance. For example, a trivial case of perseverance could be a young child waiting through a timeout, while a significant case could be a runner completely a marathon in extreme temperatures. While the child doesn 't not spend an absurd amount of time in physical pain, his or her active mind is in agony due to boredom. In my opinion, pain can have many different forms, meaning perseverance can be practiced in a multitude of ways. One of which could be my …show more content…
My version of perseverance could be different than that of my mother. I believe perseverance is the will to continue through pain. The will to continue can be powered by motivation, hope, and strength to get through a wide range of pains. These values are evolved through one’s past. My value was established by family, peers, and experiences. What makes a value meaningful is how often it is utilized in one’s life. Applying a value on one experience doesn’t change the character; the value must be practiced everyday to shape the person. One must ask themselves, what kind of character do you want to
