Personal Statement: Should Students Be Required To Tuck In Their Shirts

Decent Essays
Teachers think we should tuck our shirts in because it looks more formal and businessmen like. But we are not businessmen we are students. I personally think students should not look like businessmen.

Students should not be required to tuck in their shirts at school. First of all, I don't like tucking my shirt in at all. I find it annoying because it is really itchy. When I am itchy it distracts me from learning so I can't focus. It is also uncomfortable because we live in Florida and it is humid in Florida, so it makes the shirt stick to your skin. It also puts pressure on us to not get caught by Dean Mays because we will get in trouble.

What really bothers me is when I have PE. I run around and sweat. Then I have to put my

Sometimes, it only flusters them and makes them even more eager to expostulate this rule. How is it fair that girls have to think about what effect their outfit will have on the male students in their class before they leave the house? How about we teach boys to quit being overweening and have respect for girls. It is important to change the dress code because shoulders aren’t distracting, no one pays attention to thighs, and there are more things to worry about rather than seeing a bra strap. First off, off the shoulder shirts aren’t all that.…

Many students get dress coded every year and some are so outrageous that you wonder if the people who sent them home were thinking how can I make this person's day terrible. From students being sent home from clothing violations to percing violations, no matter what it is it affects the student's day. When a student is dress coded they usually go the rest of the day mad or sad so they don’t want to do their work. The students want to be able to wear their own clothes to school and don’t want to have to worry about getting yelled at for their clothing. Clothes are not the only things students get yelled at for, they also get in trouble for hair dye and piercings.…

Should Schools Continue to Enforce a Dress Code? Many people believe that the clothes people wear are a way for them to express themselves, and that schools should not restrict the creativity these clothes display. Although this may be true, school dress codes only restrict inappropriate clothes and articles of clothing that are distracting. Dress codes allows students to “express themselves” while also being appropriately covered and distraction free.…

Why Should Schools Not Have Dress Codes “I don’t care about that dress code. When you always look good, it’s not a problem.” -Peja Stajakovic Schools with dress codes are unfair to those who wish to fulfill themselves. When teachers give dress code violations to a girl for wearing shorts that are too short or because her choice in clothing is ‘innappropriate’, you are telling her that hiding her body and normal female parts (such as stomach, shoulders or thighs) is more important than her education. You are also telling her that a boys’ disturbance-free learning is more significant than her disturbance-free learning. Obviously some degree of dress code is important but shoulders, stomach and thighs should not be classed as inappropriate or distracting. The school dress code treats males and females differently.…

In the United States, over half of the schools (private and public) have some kind of dress code set in place. Many people think that dress code is unnecessary and many are pro-dress code. I have found that the standard dress code has (for the most part) been interpreted negatively. Dress codes are set in place to prevent distractions from one student to another and to prevent students from wearing inappropriate clothing that puts off bad images about themselves. Although most students should take it upon themselves to dress accordingly, many do not and that is why dress code has become such a hot topic.…

Have you ever been “coded” while you were at school? Do you think that most dress codes keep you from being comfortable while learning, and last but not least do you think that mostly all dress codes are somewhat sexist? Most kids think when they are wearing what they want to wear/comfortable clothes they tend to learn better. Also, some think that dress codes are taken way too far, and if a staff member is questionable about what one is wearing then they can simply just ask them a question.…

Dress codes should and should not be required in schools because some clothes are too revealing, students have an advantage of hiding weapons in hats or coats, but some schools force students to wear uniforms. First of all, some clothes that students wear are too revealing. Kids come to school sometimes with shorts that do not cover their bottoms, guys have their pants sagging, and some girls wear shirts that reveal their chest area. Sports have uniforms that may show objects that should not be shown. For example, volleyball players are required to wear spandex to play in but some spandex do not cover their entire behind.…

Today students often care more about fashion than getting an education. For many years, people have been arguing about the idea of making school uniforms mandatory. Some schools already require their students to wear uniforms, but others are still deciding whether to make it mandatory or not. Schools that have already implemented this policy have seen the benefits of it. School uniforms should be required because it saves time and lot of money for the parents, reduces peer pressure and bullying, and helps prevent the use of inappropriate clothing in a formal institute.…
