Self Assessment Of Myself

Improved Essays
When I first hear the word healthy, I, like many others, probably think at first thought of the physical, bodily well-being of a person. Beyond the physical, a person’s mental, social, and spiritual activities account for a more accurate examination of health as a whole. Being able to recognize each area of your own health is a valuable tool in order to grow and succeed as a student and life beyond college. I took Downing’s self-assessment quiz and through my original opinions of my overall health, the results were also able to confirm and address some of my strengths and weaknesses as an individual. The ability to improve the controllable aspects in my own health is an important tool in life, and self-reflections, like this, make for a great …show more content…
Discovering self-motivation was my highest score, and I am not entirely surprised by that. I find motivation in every little task with the hope something bigger may come with it. In high school, I would strive to obtain the knowledge while maintaining the highest grades with the end goal of going to college to further my education and earn scholarships to assist the expenses. In athletics, I would put in hours in the weight room and work the hardest on the court. I am a competitive person, so when I see someone succeed and know I also have the tools to do the same, I find it easy to motivate myself. Another one of my strengths displayed in the assessment was mastering self-management. Being able to manage four sports, receive good grades, work a part time job, and serve as a leader on student council and different church groups, I have been good at managing my schedule in a way that I can fully commit myself to each group without failing another. My third strongest score was accepting personal responsibility. I always expect a lot from myself and tend to try to please myself and people around me, so I find it my responsibility to accomplish different tasks in order to achieve and not having to rely on anyone …show more content…
Three of my lowest scores were believing in myself, developing emotional intelligence and gaining self-awareness. I find myself doubting my abilities and comparing myself to others in relationships, jobs, sports, school, and every other aspect of life. If I get down on myself in whatever situation, I have a difficult rising above it and moving forward quickly. I expect a lot on myself, so anything less than what I expect or hope for disappoints me. I many times care too much what others might think of me and the glory my accomplishments could bring. I often need to reevaluate my motives and direct my achievements to bring glory to God. I can blind myself and lack the self-awareness. Although I strive to be a selfless, kindhearted, patient person, but I know temper can get in the way of that sometimes. The ability to live a healthy life physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually leads to a successful and happy life. Downing’s self-assessment served as a tool that forced me to fix some of my weaknesses and acknowledge some of my strengths as a person. Being able to become a more successful student in college I know to refer back to this paper and keep myself accountable in order to make it to the places I want in the next four years and so many more years to

Growing up in one of the poorest regions of the United States has taught me two things; one, we are not defined by stereotypes, and two, hardships are made to be overcome. Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Middlesboro, KY sits on the Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia border. The multicolored fall foliage and the vivid green mountains in the spring are disserved by the descriptor spectacular. My roots are firmly nestled in the Cumberland Gap where Daniel Boone started his journey to the West decades ago. I am proud to call myself an Appalachian-American.…

Chapter 2 introduces a list of strategies that Innes believes increase individual wellbeing. His ideas are based on research in Positive Psychology, a branch of psychology focused on maximizing wellbeing rather than minimizing mental illness. Innes outlines the major aspects of a positive life and then offers strategies to achieve this. Innes’ ideas are loosely based on Martin Seligman’s PERMA model of Positive Psychology. Through this process of self-evaluation, I have a better understanding of who I am and what I want to become. It has brought into focus all the traits I like about myself as well as where I can improve. These assessments also exposed contradictions between some of the beliefs I have about myself and what has been found to be true. I am not surprised to find that my Jungian Typology is an INFJ – A (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging & Assertive), known as the Advocate. As an Advocate, whose core motivation is to be humanitarian-driven and idealistic, it explains why I receive such satisfaction from my job, which has been proven to be a challenge for me in the past.…

In the textbook, “Understanding Your Health”, I took a self-assessment that examined my health behavior. I scored a 559 overall, which meant that I had a relatively adequate health behavior. However, I think my score of 559 was on the lower side of the relatively adequate health behavior since the points ranged from 550 to 569. I was actually very close to the low health behavior score, which ranged from 330 to 549, as I was only 10 points away from a low health behavior score. This means that I should be more cautious about my lifestyle and try to make improvements in which I could live a more fulfilling and healthy life.…

The analysis results from the various self-assessments have afforded me the opportunity to notice hidden aspects about myself. I have been able to perform contemplative and thorough self-examinations of my personality in order to determine viable methods to enrich my overall personality. It has been my experience that organizational behavior in many ways are similar to the institutionalized behaviors exhibited by those in orphanages or prisons. The similarities reside in the fact that the workplace is an environment where people from very different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities and religious beliefs find themselves compartmentalized into an environment, directed towards a new way of life and then ordered to play nice…
