Values
Service, Integrity and awareness of ethical dilemmas are the values which led me to pursue a Social Work Is not capitalized career. The value service inspired me to travel out of my own bubble and learn about serving others, who live in a different environment than me. The problems I face at home led me to pursue a career where I will face many issues that deal with the morals of many people. I enjoy learning about other peoples’ lives and applying them to how I live at home with my five family members. Applying Integrity to a Social Work career is a wise decision because of listening to people who have many problems, but these people are willing to work with an organization in order to gain an improvement to their lifestyle.
Social Work Profession
It is fascinating to pursue a career in Social Work because you get to help people in multiple aspects. For example, give a listening ear to the dying, those in prison, the elderly, the homeless, the handicapped, the lonely, the teenagers, the hungry, women, children, and men. A person has the opportunity to discover how to assist a population, through learning about multiple organizations which offer many services to a nearby population. I am obligated to relax and remember I have only been in my internship for a month and I will be in my internship for many months ahead. It is ok if I do not grasp all of the information to be a great intern during one day at my internship. It is acceptable to ask questions to your supervisor because as social work student it is normal to want to ask an appropriate question that comes to my mind. It is important for a student to get any information possible out of its professor’s before it is too late to ask more
