Personal Statement: Professional Advice For A Workout Plan

Improved Essays
Over the span of the sixteen years I have spent on this planet, there are a few things I have never done, one of those things being a vigorous workout. I get a limited amount of physical activity with tennis being my only form of exercise besides daily chores and yardwork. Because of this limitation, I thought it would be a good life lesson to get professional advice for a workout plan. The professional that was kind enough to help me is the same tennis coach I have been playing with for years, Sarah Ansboury. Before starting my workout plan, I was warned of my lack of practice in the field of physical activity but I waved the warning aside. Soon, I would find out just how unprepared I was for the brutal assignment I had chosen. The workout …show more content…
It was rewarding and very nice to feel extremely sore after each one of the workouts. Also, during one of my workouts, I had almost fifteen minutes left to sprint. During my run, I did not feel any of my soreness and pain from the previous workout nor did I get sore and tired from the run. The experience I had is called “Runner’s High.” It was really weird and interesting to think back to it. My coach had mentioned to me previously that a few of her tennis students are practically addicted to running because of this feeling. I am very glad I chose to workout for my ten hours of something new. I have really enjoyed the experience and feeling of accomplishment after the workouts. I have no doubt that I will continue to use the same workout plan for a long time. This experience has made me excited for physical activity and will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. In this age, it is easy to sit on a couch all day for entertainment but people need physical activity as an outlet for pent up energy. This assignment has opened my eyes to the rewards of a good workout and I am looking forward towards my next exercise

I am interested in joining the Athletic Training program because I think that it will be an amazing learning opportunity. Last year I had the privilege of joining the Castleberry Tennis team which provided me with an insight into some of the strenuous and demanding requirements that athletes must meet daily. Through this experience I was able to come to the realization that my passion and skill concerning sports leans more towards the technical side of things rather than the hands-on experience. I believe that by becoming a student aide for the Athletic Training program, I will be able to support the athletic program in a way in which I feel I am more apt to do…

Ever since I was young I loved to exercise and that hasn’t changed one bit. The gym became a beneficial activity for my health, as well as my everyday life. Every second in the gym, carries me further and further away from reality. All the little things that would consume me in the real world fall behind as the time goes by. However, I was born with a narrow aorta, meaning that my heart works strenuously to distribute oxygen throughout my body.…

he 2008 PA Guidelines state, an adult should get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity PA(3.0-5.99METs) a week or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity PA(6.0 METs or more) a week. Surprisingly, even with a whole day of doing close to nothing I have surpassed the PA Guidelines for both moderate and vigorous intensity. This is not one of my typical weeks, which surprised me when I learned I have met the PA Guidelines. Mainly because I am a track athlete and I am used to my weeks being filled with intense workouts for two to three hours a day. Since college has started, plus getting a job, I have found it difficult to keep to the same training schedule as I had in high school.…

This class was actually very interesting and really helped me to open my eyes to the ways in which I have been not focusing on my physical health. When it comes to my present activity level, a lot has changed from the beginning of this class. I have to say that before this class I never made physical activity a priority in my day. I counted walking to class as a form of physical activity, which it was, but not enough. I am a lazy person and would rather be laying around watching Netflix than going to the gym.…
