The Importance Of Personal Wholeness

Great Essays
Personal Wholeness, according to my definition, is not a specific destination. It is a process full of steps we must all take in order to better ourselves in every aspect of our lives. In the Bible, being whole is described as “Shalom” which means completeness, health, peace, welfare, rest, harmony etc. We are called as Christians to live our lives to the absolute fullest (John 10:10) and in order to do this, we must take every area in our live into account when trying to move closer to gaining personal wholeness. There are many different area’s that play into personal wholeness such as social, mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, and environmental. Ever since studying this facet, I have been trying to make sure that I take this time for myself whenever I can because I tend to get over-stressed and worked up about schoolwork or other problems I may be having in certain relationships in my life. Another way that I really like to clear my mind is by getting out into nature and going for a walk to just take my mind off whatever is bothering me and put my focus on something else. It also helps to take a walk after I have been studying for a while cause it gets out some of my energy and refocus on what I am trying to learn or get done.
Last but certainly not least, we focused on being spiritually whole, and how it is the foundation on which all other facets are built on. This topic covered what you believe in and what you feel like you are living for and your relationship with God. We as Christians are called to follow God and put Him first in every aspect of our lives which can be really hard to do sometimes. As life goes on and things get more complicated and crazy, it becomes more difficult to make God the number one priority because we have so many other things going

It really changed my thinking in the way that now when I start thinking about relapsing into my old, unhealthy habits I think about everything I have going for me in my life at this point and how relapsing will set me back in every way. Remembering this has really helped me stay on track especially with my issues with food. Every time I start thinking about not eating I remind myself that if I do that I will also have to deal with all the repercussions that come with being unhealthy in that way which then keeps me from

For about the past week now, former NBA star Lamar Odom has been in the news. Odom was hospitalized after being found unconscious in what was said to be a brothel. For those of you out there who are confused on what a brothel is like I was, it’s simply a house where men can visit prostitutes. The reason I point this out is because despite the fact there is a young man fighting for his life, the media still find ways to paint a picture for their audience to gain exposure. Where he was found or even what he was doing before you was found was unnecessary.…

Religion teaches people how to use their freedom for the good of themselves and others. It is practically the sole means of counteracting the materialistic aspects of life by taking people’s minds beyond the physical, material aspects of life. Religion teaches men that being good is in their self interest because they will be rewarded in the afterlife. By working towards the common good rather than personal gain, people are forced to work together. Through these features of American democracy which de Tocqueville noted, Americans are able to balance individualism with the good of the community.…

Personal Truth Paper I was five. My mother was desperately trying to teach me how to skip rocks across water, and true to my uncoordinated tendencies, I was failing miserably. With great frustration, I decided to plop down on the grass and watch as she made five, six, seven skips on the surface of the water before the rock went plummeting down into the depths of the dark lake. Each little bounce of the stone rippled the water all the way to where my toes were resting in the cool waves. Such a light toss had sent the liquid spiraling far beyond my expectations.…

In the textbook, “Understanding Your Health”, I took a self-assessment that examined my health behavior. I scored a 559 overall, which meant that I had a relatively adequate health behavior. However, I think my score of 559 was on the lower side of the relatively adequate health behavior since the points ranged from 550 to 569. I was actually very close to the low health behavior score, which ranged from 330 to 549, as I was only 10 points away from a low health behavior score. This means that I should be more cautious about my lifestyle and try to make improvements in which I could live a more fulfilling and healthy life.…
