Personal Development Plan “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more you are a leader” John Quincy Adams
My Life Purpose I attend Brigham Young University Idaho for two reasons, to become a true disciple of Christ, and also become a leader. Becoming a disciple of Christ is not always a simple as it seems, you must be will to allow yourself to grow. Becoming a good leader requires self reflection, it’s a learning process. I’m competing against thousands of other cadet’s nationwide for an active duty slot. I figured that being a female, and being Hispanic that I might have an advantage. With the counsel of Major Wilson I learned that my chances of achieving an active duty slot are very slim. My GPA is low it’s sitting at a 3.0 and my physical fitness test score is low sitting at a 272.
I have participated in two color guard ceremonies; I have also participated in ranger challenge and tested out of Spanish 101 In order to acquire more OML points to better my chances of achieving an active duty slot. My short term goals are to earn at least two more OML points this upcoming spring semester. I plan on accomplishing this goal by taking COMM 102, writing an article for the school news paper, and also by participating in a sport on campus.
My other Short term goals include raising my GPA and physical fitness test by the end of the spring semester. After this semester my GPA should raise slightly. Next semester I plan to acquire a tutor for every class so that I can have straight A’s. I’m currently a B+ average student, I feel that if I meet with a tutor at least once a week to go over the required material for the class, I will have a better grasp of the information and receive better

It was straight up the side of a mountain with no end in sight. As I stared up I thought, this is not so bad, but little did I know that the next two miles would be a testament to mind over body. The climb up the mountain began with a forty pound sandbag carry. You had to pull yourself up the hill using roots and small trees. By the time the real climb had started my legs were already cramping.…

If one ranks leaders on how well they led by example, surely one of our greatest leaders is none less than the 26th U.S. president, Theodore Roosevelt. “Do as I say, not as I do” is a philosophy that many leaders take, however, this builds bitter resentment in the eyes of the people. The best leaders have always been ones who lead by example, showing their followers how its done, both speaking of ideals and showing them. Theodore Roosevelt led by example by working against big businesses that oppressed consumers, working for the betterment of himself, and fighting for what he believed in.…

I can still remember the day when my parents told me the phrase, “You are a leader, not a follower.” It was in kindergarden right after I told them about a few girls who were making fun of a friend of fine, and I decided to stop them and defend her. A normal person might strive to be average, to be the okay for the moment and never truly use their full potential. There are several phrases trying to explain what well-being really means to a society. Among these we have: “Societal Progress”, Standard living of Life”, “Human Development”, etc. (Gagrey &Catrice 2006) Some people think that societal well-being and standard of living is directly linked to the economic growth of the nation as a whole and the traditional measure of the welfare or well-being is ‘gross domestic product’ (GDP). By definitions, GDP refers to the market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period (Gagrey &Catrice 2006).The GDP considers the market value of goods and services to arrive at a number which is used to judge the growth rate of the economy and the overall ecnomic health of the nation concerned (Gagrey &Catrice 2006).…
