When I compare my earlier drawings to my latest sketches and paintings I can’t help but become content with the progression I had made. I used to sketch simple doodles that delighted everyone, however I’d constantly search for new and different styles of art for inspiration on enhancing my own style. Observing every little detail and technique an artist used only intrigued me to grasp and apply it. When I first began to paint I’d become elated at the idea of being able to paint, but then I found myself gazing upon the blank canvas waiting for a scene worthy enough to paint. As my passion for art grows the development of valuable skills grows as well. Being observant of the distinct and vast amount of details in paintings allowed the growth of my visual skills because I am now able to focus on tasks. Having the capability to lead and guide the brushes has overall benefitted my leadership skills. Peers are able to trust my guidance because they know that my goal is to assist and influence their optimum performance. My passion for art will be the cause of my success at UMCP because of its positive impact on the development of my skills.
