Spiritual Gifts Analysis: The Gift Of Mercy And Evangelism

Improved Essays
PART ONE? What are your spiritual gifts? Do you agree with the results? Why are why not? We often wonder why we were created here on earth, what is our purpose. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “I chose you before you were born I selected you to be a prophet to the nation.” Therefore we didn’t choose our gifts God had already equipped us with our gift. After exploring the Spiritual Gifts Analysis my results shows that my spiritual gifts are showing mercy and evangelism. I agree that I have the gift of mercy because I am an individual that hurt when others hurt. I am one that is always showing compassion to those individuals that feel that no one else care. I remember going to work and walking in the break room and noticed a young lady sitting in the corner. …show more content…
“God doesn’t called the equipped, he equip those he called.” I began to share that Moses killed an individual, Rehab was a prostitute, and Jonah ran from God, David had another women husband killed and God still got the glory out of their life. My second gift was evangelism. I don’t know if I really agree on evangelism and it may be because I don’t want to get out of my comfort zone. When viewing the charactericts of evangelism I do exemplify some of the qualifications. Evangelist is “one that preaching and teaches God’s word, one that tries to persuade someone to accept Christ, and one that has an influence to lead people beyond your natural sphere. For so many years I was a Jonah, one that God was calling to preach his word and to share my personal testimony but felt as though I wasn’t equipped for the task. God has taken me through storm after storm and I refuse to surrender to the call. I would share with individuals on a one on one basis but not to a large crowd. Later I realize that God wanted me to do more. Therefore I acknowledge my call into the ministry and did my initial sermon on August 16, …show more content…
How might you misuse your gifts? Be specific. The gift of mercy can be used to lift someone else up. It can be used in times of death, birth, Sunday school teacher, becoming a counselor, usher, and hospitality. This gift can be used to encourage individual that has a disability or to single parents that has no hope. I remember times when my husband and I would take our three sons to the nursing home to visit elderly that never had any one to visit them. It brought so much joy when they would see little children come out to visit them. We must be very careful not to misuse our gift. One way we can misuse our gift, is if we know that a person is going through a difficult time and refuse to share your testimony of how God brought you through; you bury your gift. I am reminded of the story in Matthew 25 where the servant gave individual talents. Even though talents and gifts are different they are all given by God, it’s what we do with them that makes the different. We must be careful not to be like the one who he gave one talent. The servant didn’t share the gift that God had blessed him with; he buried it instead of using it to bring glory to his name. We must remember when we minister we are “To lead people into a relationship with the God who is worth it” (Earley & Gutierrez 2010 Chapter 7). Evangelism can be used by going around others that you have closeness with such as your family, co-workers, and

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

1 Corinthians 12:7-11, Romans 12:6-8 and 1 Peter 4:11 depicts these spiritual gifts. All are given at least one spiritual gift, and despite the different gifts, everyone is gifted in a unique way. Some spiritual gifts are more prominent than others, and a spiritual gifts test is helpful in discerning different gifts. However, tests should not excuse people from gifts they do not enjoy. For example, the service of hospitality should not be neglected because one does not like having people in their home.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

Ross Gay’s piece “Some Thoughts on Mercy” is about the experiences of African Americans in predominantly white communities. Gay’s struggle throughout the piece is that whites simply don’t seem to respect African Americans, no matter where they go or what they do. In doing so, he inadvertently makes a case for the voluntary self-separation of blacks from whites. Gay’s piece is composed largely of personal anecdotes of various racially-charged encounters. He begins with an encounter he had with police one night, and he wonders about how it might have gone had circumstances been different.…

Pastors must be servant-leaders and not lord it over their flock. Gregory presents important points with much wisdom that pastors would do well to follow as an example. There are some (many) who should not be in pastoral ministry because they lead their flock astray. This is due to the fact that there are pastors who do not have sound doctrine which leads to wolves invading the flock. One must be called into pastoral ministry by God in order to do this important work.…

Christians are called to become more effective in all these areas, but the Lord has given these gifts more to others. It is the Church’s responsibility to bring the people who have these gifts to help teach and develop these gifts in others. Some with the gift of prophesy need to come along those that are weaker in this area and help them along to become more Christ like. Vice versa with the one who is a prophet will need help with a gift of the person that they had helped. Pastor John breaks down these categories of people into: shepherd-these are the ones who take care of the peoples’ needs, teacher- these are the people in the Word studying and preaching the Truth, evangelist- are…

I started the interview by asking Pastor Jacque to describe her call to ministry. More precisely I asked her to describe her calling from the time she first received it up until now. During this question Pastor Jacque began by telling me about her background and early life. She informed me that she was born and raised in Santiago California, to parents that she described as people who didn’t have everything put together.…

The one verse I will forever live by is Psalm 143:8, “Let the morning bring the word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life”. This verse tells me that I do not need to fear about singing in front people, or fear befriending people, or fear leading others, or fear anything in this world because the moment I gave my heart to God, He continually held onto it with such a delicacy. He knows that I trust and have faith in Him, and likewise, I know He trusts and has faith in me. Many people do not think about God having faith and trust in them, but He does.…
