Introduction: This paper will cover my opinions on ethics as it applies to my personal life, the corporate world, and society. I will go into detail on how my family heavily influences my personal ethical views, and how those views reflect my ethical decision-making in a work environment. Finally, this paper will discuss my changing viewpoint on ethics in society. Experiences from my family life to the career I am just starting will be seen throughout the paper as various examples.

Personal: From my own experience, I would define ethics as a mindset that influences one’s decision making. This mindset is taught by example early on in life, but can be changed or strengthened throughout numerous life experiences. My ethical mindset was heavily influenced by my parents’ behavior. My family has shaped my viewpoint and taught me to believe that ethics are very important. For example, my family raised me catholic. As a result many of my ethical beliefs come from catholic teachings that say always consider how others are affected by your ethical decisions. However, my perspective on ethics changed after I attended a catholic high school and was required to take theology classes. I began to disagree with some of the harsher beliefs that told you to make ethical decisions solely based on the church’s stances and how it impacts others.
