Personal Statement Of Purpose: Mount Holyoke College

My life goal is to run my own business in the future. When I imitatively formed a team in school; when I sparked the creative idea of selling Korean hot pot at the party; when I successfully persuade my sponsors to support our conference with free food; when I designed and uploaded my own advertisements online, and saw they were favored again and again; when my limited discount coupons were sold out during the pre-sale – I realized that my blueprint was actually coming true step-by-step and I felt excited about the unknown challenges. However, I’m also well aware that prospective business activities are not as easy as those practices I’ve experienced. Except for business sense and knowledge, critical thinking, which is exactly what I’m trying to improve, plays an important role in the real business world.

Mount Holyoke College (MHC) is the place where I can discover what I am truly seeking for. Although in our stereotypes, the education principles of liberal arts colleges seem far away from entrepreneurship, I think differently. Indeed, MHC is right for me.

Recently, I am assisting an organization dedicating in operating educational program for youth, with cooperation with Sri Lankan local NGO. Planning marketing strategy, checking and perfecting every procedure of program called Social Innovation Program, I expect to inspire participants to have their new idea contributing to society after communicating with local professor and NGO staffs, and to further understand local situation. Involved in the local communities, my vision of Confucian Enterprise, the combination of morality and business sense, will be realized.
