Personal Statement Of Purpose For Halo: Combat Evolved

Decent Essays
Halo: Combat Evolved is the first video game I ever played. It sparked in me not only a love of video games, but also an interest in computers. That was a decade ago. Today that little spark has grown into a raging fire of passion for computers and new technology. Whenever there are new technological advances, you can be sure I know about them. Whether it’s new hardware, like the Xbox One, or new software such as Windows 10. I decided long ago that whatever career I pursued had to involve computers. As college crept closer and closer, so did the pressure to choose a major. I began extensively searching careers in computers last year. I wanted to find a career that would enable me to: make a real contribution to society, create something new and innovative that would make people’s lives easier, and still involve computers. From my research, I discovered that software engineering was the right career for me, as it allowed for me to accomplish all three of my goals. I then researched the education I would need to be a software engineer. After I graduate from Kress High School, I plan to attend Texas Tech University and get a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I also hope to go to graduate …show more content…
There are so many different jobs available to a person with a degree in computer science that want to use it to develop software. I could design the programs that run a power plant for Excel, design the software that goes in military drones, or design the latest operating system for Microsoft or Apple computers. There is just too much variety in the job opportunities. I plan on waiting until I have gained enough knowledge in computer science to know the career I would be passionate about and want to pursue. The most I know about my career goals as of now is that I want to develop software for a big name computer company or organization, such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, or

When considering what career I wanted to achieve I was given a substantial amount of advice; starting with choosing something that you are passionate about and ending with researching everything you can about what you want to do. Having been given advice, and learned from past experiences that I needed to listen to all the advice. So I thought long and hard about what my dream job would be. I knew it had to be something where I was helping people. After my freshman year in college, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to do something with psychology, hopefully using animal assisted therapy.…

At some point in time in their development, most people encounter an adult figure, who instills a positive change in their lives. For me, that person was Cindy Scannella--my track and my cross country coach for my first two years of high school. With her unique approach to coaching, Coach Scannella not only gave me the confidence to flourish in the sport and lead my team, but she also gifted me with a love for running. This passion of mine as well as her continual support has carried me through the difficulties of my grandfather’s death, my parents’ divorce, and other strenuous circumstances including the end of her time as my coach. Her presence in my life has truly altered my life for the better.…

Activity 3.2 One of the biggest challenges that I am facing at the moment is finding the right major for me. Declaring a major has a lot of benefits, for example I would only need to take the classes I need for my major which would save me time and money. As well I could start to apply to internship programs to help launch my career and future. I could also look for a good school with the right masters’ program in my field so I can work on the requirements they need for me to attend ones I graduate. Overall the worst case scenario that I see from not picking a major on time is being hold back ones I reach 45 units, this would waste time something I don’t really feel like I have a lot of.…

I sat on a rock watching a group of elementary school kids explore the natural world. They looked at fish, hopped on rocks and followed bugs to their hearts’ content. We were about a mile from our cabin, at the end of Christopher Creek before it went under the road. As a junior counselor, I probably went way out of my jurisdiction in taking my four campers on such a long trip down the creek, but their enjoyment was worth the potential trouble. I couldn’t believe it; none of them had ever taken a trip down a creek.…

Last year I was solely set on majoring in computer science and being a programmer for a living and making millions while working at home by creating genius apps that would change the world. It sounded like the perfect plan because it would incorporate my love for technology and my creativity into a career that would not have me staring at four walls everyday questioning why I chose this job. The future is frightening, without a taste of what computer programming is, how am I supposed to know if that is the right fit for the rest of my life? While researching this particular major, I stumbled upon an event that sparked my interest hosted by Rutgers University in New Jersey-- HackRU. As my high school career comes to a close, I realized that after 13 years of being asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” , I still hadn’t answered the question. In 2002, a book called “StrengthsQuest” was released by Donald O. Clifton, Edward “Chip” Anderson, and Laurie A. Schreiner, in hopes it would give college students like me a simple, yet extremely helpful tool to guide them through their college experience. In this book one can find things called Signature Themes. The signature themes are given to readers after they take the “Clifton StrengthsFinder”.…

As I reflect on my personal life I value life itself to the point I live each day not knowing what to expect the next day. Positivity is a major factor in all that I do to the point of trying to view all things in a positive way and leaving the negativity out the door. As a mother, partner, educator, and entrepreneur I strive to be mindful, spiritual, and conscious of all my actions. I value these things because this is what makes up my life and what I live for each day. My life is a fourth generation person and I relate because I “want to live, love, learn, and leave it like a seed with balance and joy" (Covey, 73) the quality of my life is more important than planning it out.…
