Decent Essays
My name is Megan Johnson and I am a senior. I will be graduating this year with my Criminal Justice degree and graduating next year with my Political Science degree. I am taking this course to get a better understanding of our government and to further my education. During my free-time I enjoy clogging and watching criminal and legal documentaries. I find reading about cases interesting and I find it disinteresting when people are so unaware of what is going on in our government.

Law and the Interest that it Holds on People Being able to study the law has always been an interest of mine because there are so many different directions that it can take. People defending a certain law can win but so can a person that is trying to change a tradition, and thus can change the whole way the system works and is looked at by U.S citizens and that includes the rest of the world. I like knowing that the U.S has the power to make laws in our own country and cause and effect somewhere else, which can benefit people from those places as to gain more rights than what they had before. Many of the cases that have been discussed in class, I had at one point hear or read about them. However, I had not been able to go into much detail…

My interest in law and government began during my freshman year when I decided to become a member of Teen Court. I’ve always had a thirst for knowledge and I signed up for this activity because I viewed it as an opportunity to gain an insight on how the court system worked and learn about the different roles involved. What I did not expect was to gain a passion about defending or prosecuting a defendant and enjoying the responsibility of informing the judge, jury, and audience about the evidence I had gathered. Before this activity, I would have never envision myself wanting to be a lawyer because I was terrified of public speaking. This fear and anxiety I felt when presenting in front of a group has always been a challenge I struggled to conquer.…
