Personal Statement Of Hope

Decent Essays
When I am older I want to look back on my life with pride and satisfaction. This means more than earning a job in the biomedical field or raising a family with someone who shares the same values as me, although I do hope to do both. I also want to know that I worked hard and did not take an easy route or way out. I want to have taken challenges instead of shying away from opportunities I came upon. I want to be able to proudly look back on moments where, perhaps, I could have been deceptive or gotten away with something, but I instead maintained my integrity. I hope to be able to remember a time where a stranger needed help and I did not stand by watching passively or walk past quickly but instead came to their aid. I hope at some point I come face to face with a problem I have no idea how to solve, and instead of giving up or immediately asking others for help, I work at it just a little longer and come up with a solution on my own. …show more content…

If I choose to have children, I want to raise them with the same mindset that my own parents raised me with, which is to look for opportunities that come my way and take as many as I can. Most importantly, I hope to keep a strong relationship with myself. I hope to live day in and day out with the constant reminder that life is not always easy but that it is a gift. I do not want to ever give up on myself. I hope to be able to look back on my life in 30 years and see that the only time I struggled with my mental health was as a teenager. There is a quote from the film “Archie's Final Project” that I hope to remember throughout my life: “If you want to kill yourself, kill what you don’t like. I had an old self that I
