My specific interest in Western University lies in the focus of interprofessional learning. This is a unique and important factor that will tremendously expand my abilities in healthcare. While volunteering and working in healthcare facilities, I have seen how nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, and dietitians work together to deliver the best treatment course for the patients. I am excited to find out that Western University provides unparalleled curriculum with an exceptional team of professors and modern lab settings, both of which are critical for me when choosing a school. As the result, I believe the Master of Nursing/Clinical Nurse Leader track is the best fit for me. Through this personal statement, I hope to give you an …show more content…
My parents are both hardworking professionals at the expense of their own health. As a kid, seeing them strain their physical and mental resources to provide for my family, I always had a desire to one day help them maintain their health. At age 14, I left Vietnam on my own to come to the US in search of better education. I found myself independently navigating through a new country. Once I became a freshman in college, without having a clear vision of a career path, I picked business administration as this seemed potentially useful for the continuation of our family business. During the course of the study, I realized that my heart was not in it, which was reflected in the lower grades of my first years. For a couple of years, I tried different jobs and expanded my network and interests by joining multiple volunteer organizations and social groups. I found out that having so many interests was not pragmatic, and eventually I briefly challenged myself with a marketing position, which reassured me that it was time to look for another

My journey first began when I decided to attend The University of Iowa in the fall of 2013 after graduating from Urbandale High School. I attended Iowa for 2 years and then when it came time to choose where I would apply to nursing school at I was stuck between wanting to continue on at Iowa’s College of Nursing, pending on my acceptance, but also needing a change in my life. I decided to choose change and Mercy College of Health Sciences presented an opportunity for just that. There is a program offered at Mercy College of Health Sciences (MCOHS) that was too good for me to pass up. My current focus has been on achieving my BSN and the program I had heard about was fairly new but provided an opportunity for me to get my BSN while doing it in only 2 short years.…

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

Becoming a nurse was not something I always knew I wanted to do. I knew that I wanted to have a career in the medical field due to the opportunity for innovations in health care and the challenges for improvement. It was not until my mother’s struggle with breast cancer that becoming a nurse became my mission. As a young child at my mom's bedside, I would watch her nurses as they took care of her. To me, they were pillars of compassion, strength, and advocacy that inspired me to pursue nursing.…

Through 25 different scholarships, I was able to attend OSU without any loans and truly believed I was on the right track to achieving the "American Dream". True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…
