A Visit to My Family Physician Clayton Straughn, the family doctor ,with 25 years of experience, is specialized in general medicine/family medicine. General medicine is specialized in treating all general diseases in all areas of medicine. Family medicine is general medicine specialized for the family, all ages and all genders(Meriam-Webster).Family doctors are very important because they are the most visited at first for all types of diseases and they are the ones who transfer the patient to a specialized doctor. Most patients praised the doctor’s ability to treat and diagnose diseases and his concern and attention over his patients’ cases. One of the reviews also mentioned that he was helpful in referring patients to specialized doctors “not a bad doctor. Was very thorough with my case and referred me to a great ENT doctor. Was attentive to my personal situation”. As one of his patients, he has provided me with good diagnosis and treatment to most of my illnesses and he also referred me to a specialized doctor when it was necessary …show more content…
The waiting room is comfortable for patients. It had been provided with moderate temperature, clean atmosphere, and comfortable chairs. There is magazines and TV for patients’ entertainment while waiting. The office décor is organized with nature pictures and doctor’s certificates hanging on the wall. Also, there are plants decorative bowls for patients’ psychological comfort. The checking rooms where patients meet with the doctor have posters and models of human body parts and explanation of diseases for patients understanding. The doctor personality in dealing with patient is not friendly. He doesn’t usually greet his patients nor does he spend time with them after they wait for long time to see him. According to the rating on Vitals website, he had two stars on time he spends with his patients and bedside manners which is below average. Some patients changed doctors because of his personality with his patients, they waited for about an hour to see the doctor for 5 minutes or less
