Myers-Briggs Profile Reflection

Upon reading the results of my Myers-Briggs profile, my first thoughts were that it wasn’t any more in-depth than other personality profiles I have completed in the past. The descriptions about the way I direct and receive energy, take in information, come to conclusions, and approach the outside world were very general and I do not think that the Thinking description describes me well, because I know that I place high value on understanding and harmony among group members. That being said, once I read my personality type description on the second page, my reaction was “wow, how did this test get my personality traits so spot-on, just from me choosing words that I like better than others?”
My profile categorizes me as an ENTP (Extroversion Intuition Thinking Perceiving) personality type. ENTPs are creative, clever, and resourceful as well as theoretical, conceptual, and curious, and all of these words describe me very well. Being able to determine when a member of my group is dealing with emotional issues and knowing how to be there for them will do wonders for group dynamics. If the people I am leading are not only confident in my technical abilities, but also in my ability to comfort others and settle conflicts, then they will feel more stress-free knowing that I can handle any situation that is thrown my way. Another area that I would like to improve on is my tendency to be over-competitive. While competition, even within discussion of theories, energizes me, it may make members of my group uneasy. One of my main goals is to make sure that everyone in my group is relaxed, and if they have to constantly worry that everything they say is up for debate, they will be less likely to vocalize their opinions in fear of having to argue about
