I’m currently a bit undecided abought the specifics but I am sure that I would like to pursue a career in the art/creative/film industry. I’ve been thinking possibly freelance but leaning more towards studio work, something possibly in the realm of storyboard artist, concept artist, and background artist or something along those lines.
2. How is video related to the industry you want to get into, either in its usage or techniques used? For example, in gaming you could discuss the use of motion capture, but also cinematics being like little movies, etc.
Video is very much so related to my potential field. I would like to work on animated films or shows. I’m a big fan of combining the real world with the animated. Animated films (particularly computer animation/stop motion) use video in a similar way that it is used in traditional cinema. Like setting up your shot, good composition, moving the camera etc. More specifically though having knowledge of video technique would also benefit storyboarding, comics and other similar medias since …show more content…
Of the examples you looked at, comment on anything that struck you as interesting.
Personally I found all of them very interesting. There were a few things that I found particularly interesting though. One was how when you compare the storyboard to the final shot you can not only see how the characters deign was evolved but also how the shots sometimes changed completely. Even the slightest change in composition made the scene just a bit more dynamic and interesting. I’m also very intrigued by stop motion, because of the way it combines animation with cinematography in the “real world” and how you’re working with a real camera vs one you control in a 3D computer space for a CGI
