Often they have a huge impact when they are happening. When we face failure, we usually move on and, at best, we learn from these situations. Nevertheless, some events, even minor ones, can have a significant impact on us in the long term. This is what happened to me in early October of this year. It was a Tuesday and I was set to take a regular schedule French Baccalaureate review exam in math.
That math test was the first important one of the year and I was not able to give this one as much study time as I would like to it because my time was focused on writing my essays for college. Furthermore, math is one of my strengths, so I thought that if there was one test I could “wing,” it would be this one. Unexpectedly, I failed and I got a C+. I realized the impact of this poor grade when I became aware that this test would account for 1/3 of the overall rating of the first trimester. I was devastated. At best I could get a B+ over the trimester and I was worried that my poor performance could close doors for me. Afterwards, I became really upset with myself as I realized that I had misunderstood just one concept, which impacted my entire test, as it was the limits in the series’ chapter.
