At the beginning of my high school career, I had no motivation. I did not set goals for myself so I was average in everything I participated in, never excelling at anything. It was not until my sophomore year did I realize that my college education depended on my high school performance. I had an intervention with my parents and guidance counselor and they helped me set small goals for myself so I could succeed in and out of school. I believe that setting goals will help me reach my full potential in the personal, academic and professional field. A personal goal that I try to implement into my every day routine is increasing my faith and giving back. When they asked me the same question at the beginning of high school; I still had no idea. I did not feel any calling in a career path. It was not until the summer between my sophomore and junior year of high school that I felt a calling to a career. I participated in a program held at Indiana State University called Summer Honors which allowed me to enroll in a college level class for a week. I took Law 101 because I loved watching Law and Order and thought I would be able to reenact it for an entire week. We went to the court house and watched cases, talked to a prosecutor and performed a mock trial. At the end of the week, I felt like a lightbulb had went off over my head because I knew what I wanted to pursue. I would like to be prosecutor that represents organizations like Child Protection Services and sexual assault. My goal this summer is to have an internship at the local`s prosecutor`s office. I plan to work hard throughout college and law school so I can become an expert in my field. In the future, my ultimate goal is to be happy in whatever career path I choose.
