Personal Statement: My Goals For College

My goals for college are probably just like everyone else’s keep my grades up, get an education to help in my future career, and to try new things and meet new people. A dream school for me would be somewhere close to home, affordable, and has the best programs for me. My plans for college are to start my education at a community college and then transfer out after my associates to a four year university. The reason i’m transferring is to save money because my parents said they would pay for that. In the meantime i could save up what i could for the rest of my education. I want to go to VCU because it’s close to home, affordable, and has great programs for what i want to do. It was important to pick a school close to home so i could stay there while in school. I want to go to get my masters in speech pathology for children. What i want to get out of going to VCU is having the chance to try new things. Joining clubs and meeting people who have the same interests as me would be exciting. There are more opportunities for you in college and you get more responsibility. Being around new and different people gives you new ways of thinking and can make you into a better version of yourself. My sister had a speech impediment all through elementary school. She used to get mocked because of it and it would hurt her feelings i felt like it was wrong for people to make fun of something she was trying to fix. My grandmother had a stroke and now suffers a speech impediment to the point where she can’t even get one sentence out. It's hard to watch someone struggle to do everyday things. People just ignore what she saying because it's too hard to have a conversation with her. It can make you feel alone when you don't have anyone to talk to and i don't want to have kids feel like
