Why Is It Important To Have A High School Diploma Essay

As it is I am the only person in my immediate family to graduate with a high school diploma. That was really important to my mother and father. At the time I just assumed that was the norm. My mom did go back and get her GED which really showed me it is never too late to still learn. My father was a high school drop but still a very smart man. He could fix anything and was just a natural problem solver. I was the only child born from my mother and father. My father went on to have three more children all still very young. When we married I also got a step brother. When it comes to school he is a lot like me and take school kind of lightly. I tell him all the time to take advantage of it now but countless people told me the same thing. It is something you can only look back with hindsight and say “duh”. My dad was always very supportive about getting good grades and becoming something. My mom is supportive but she does not understand the work that goes into getting a degree so she likes to think it is easy and should be done fast. I did contraction for four years and I meet a lot of older men who have to keep working hard because they have no other skill. Working with your hands is rewarding but not as much for that kind of money. I want to be able to travel and go on vacation and really enjoy life because money is freedom and not happiness, like most people confuse it. Major obstacles in my life is the amount of time I have to give to each class. Last couple years have been really tough with the passing of my father. I guess most people think the grieving process take as long as it should but I know it still affects me every day. Almost like a constant distraction. I know he would want me to get a degree and do more than he did. Same can be said for my mom. They both want to help me be what they know I can
