My Interest in the medical field all began when I was a young girl, growing up I always was fascinated by science and the human anatomy, and how each complex system made this one being. In school, I struggled with subjects such as reading and writing, but when it came to math and science it became a second language, figured it was mostly because of my curiosity and for passion learning, but what influenced me the most as a child was my mother. My mother is a Social Worker and she has to help and support people on daily bases and by watching her example giving to people out of the kindness of her heart back into the community, made me want to do the same and growing up in Christian home I was told that “God gives us gifts and talents so we can help and support his people,” and so I thought what better way to serve people then becoming a doctor; with these skills and…

Ever since I was a little girl, my parents instilled the importance of obtaining an education; therefore, every day I would go to school with the primary focus of making them proud. What I came to realize as I got older was that school is not just about getting good grades; more than that, though, it is about learning and being able to implement all my knowledge throughout the course of my daily life. The experiences I have endured throughout my years in high school have been the most crucial in the sense of allowing me to feel for what it is that I am most interested in. My extracurricular activities have helped me branch out and explore what path I want to pursue. In the midst of all these activities, I have found my true calling-- to become an anesthesiologist. I have acquired my essential writing, communication, time management, and critical thinking skills through my high school's dance team, UIL Journalism Club, and the Science Club. I did not acquire these skills from one day to another; however, being a part of these extracurricular activities essentially provided me with the sufficient amount of practice and execution of these fundamental qualities.…

I truly believed that. In fact, my determination and drive towards this career path, lead me to easily choose to specialize in the Science Research field at High School for Health Professions and Human Services. This is where I was first introduced to the medical environment and experienced the excitement of it all while engaged in a ten-week high school program at Weill Cornell Medical School.
