Personal Narrative: My Aquatic Love Of Marriage

Improved Essays
My Aquatic Love Marriage, it is an act of commitment between you and another person where you swear to be by their side in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. It is a beautiful contract binding two people in love, and I wish to be in this sort of commitment with you, my fish. Yes, you my beautiful fish with scales that are as orange and vibrant as newly plucked tangerines; I wish to marry you. I do not intend to boast, but I would make an excellent spouse. I am responsible and have plenty of free time to take care of you and alleviate the loneliness you may feel as you swim around your fish tank. I will support you in whatever your endeavors may be or any decisions you may make. In addition since my lifespan is longer than yours …show more content…
One of them might be how our marriage is biologically impossible since we are of two different species and are unable to produce offspring through this marriage. This argument is invalid when applied to our marriage, since our marriage will be based solely on the premise of companionship, and an understanding that transcends words; our relationship has no need for physical contact or anything of that nature. Also regarding the matter of children, I do not want children, so this matter will not be an issue for me, and you my dear fish are a hybrid causing you to be sterile and unable to produce offspring even if you wanted a child. However if your want for a child is something that you can’t part with then I am not against adopting a baby fish for you. There is also the argument of whether society would even accept a marriage between a human and a fish. I believe society will have to accept this marriage since don’t all living beings deserve love, don’t they all deserve companionship, and understanding, and devotion, and adoration, and the ability to express these things to whomever they want as long as the other party is willing? I will give you, my beautiful fish, all these things and more making it onerous for society to reject our relationship because that would be the same as saying that I don’t have the ability to love whomever I want, or saying that you don’t deserve love. The rejection of our marriage would be like stating that love is bound by certain regulations in order to be considered “true” love. This is ridiculous because no matter what love is love and actual true love is only attainable when there are no regulations against

Centuries ago, the marriage of two people was considered a legal agreement rather than an act of love. To marry for love was considered a dishonor toward the family, displaying affection in the public was an unwritten law that would result in shame. However, as centuries passed, times changed. It is now acceptable to marry for love, but the question is, will the couple’s love be able to withstand the hardships of life? The change within marriage can be seen in the article “The Radical Idea of Marrying for Love” by Stephanie Coontz, where she talks about the history of marriage and how different cultures interpret marriage, and the article “Will Your Marriage Last?” by Aviva Patz, is about his opinion on marrying for love, and how it is absurd…

Stating, “As an institution, marriage has lost much of its legal, social, economic, and religious meaning and authority.” The authors believe that marriage no longer has the same prestige that it once had and instead the meaning of marriage itself has been redefined. Popenoe and Whitehead present the article in a very logical way, explaining how ideas about marriage have evolved and using statistics to support their claims. Proposing that “ It is a sign of the times that the overwhelming majority (94%) of never married singles in our survey agreed that ‘when you marry, you want your spouse to be your soul mate, first and foremost.’” They go on to explain that this is a new…

I returned to my location on the Lakeshore Nature Preserve Path, just past the Center of Limnology going toward the lakeshore side of campus, on April 6, 2018 from 10:45-11:15 am. It was chilly and very windy that day. It had snowed earlier in the week, so there was still some white visible on the land surrounding the lake. The land straight across the lake looks like a town or city. On both sides of the town, there are many trees lining the shore.…

More than once I've had to dive for cover in the green, slimy muck of a pond. I doubt I would have ever picked up the sport of fishing if I knew it required dodging golf balls, but this is the type of fishing I love. While I don't remember the first time I went fishing, I've seen pictures of my dad and me dangling a line of the pier, standing in mountain streams and side by side in the surf. Nevertheless, I cannot actually remember fishing. However, I do remember many years ago when I was invited to go with a friend and his dad on their boat, unfortunately, a late night storm blew in and much to my dismay, the trip was canceled.…

There was a crisp and refreshing wind that swirled around in the air, creating a harmony in motion with the lakes bountiful waves. It was a startling summer morning in the West Virginia mountains as everything was so clear, picturesque and vibrant. The blue sky shone a bright blue, the yellow sun radiated a bright yellow, and the green lake shimmered exuberantly. Interrupting this peaceful scene were several loud splashes as young campers dove one after another erupting in excitement (and possibly an ounce of initial shock at the lakes contrast in coolness with the other elements). We; the divers, were already bursting at the seams of delight from the anticipation built canoeing up to this spot, considerably far from the shore of the lake.…
