After I started going to school in Mexico, my parents decided to come back to South Carolina. That’s when everything was confusing, I didn’t speak any English which was very terrifying to me.…

My decision to return to college was purely random. There was no pondering over the decision; no weighing in the pros and cons, no thinking it through or any real thought behind it. I literally woke up one morning and said to myself “I think I’ll go back to college” and I made the call. I called the College of New Rochelle and made the appointment for the admissions test. And before I knew what was actually happening, I was a matriculated college student.…

Starting my journey with post-secondary education in high school has allowed me to realize how important it is to continue with these classes after high school is done. These classes have been an essential stepping stool into helping me prepare for not only college, but also for the challenges that I will experience later on. With continuing on with these classes in college, I will be able to acquire my bachelor’s degree followed by a three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, which will open doors and broaden my opportunities, that might otherwise not be possible. Personal Philosophy Statement My educational philosophy as a teacher is that every student should be able to attend a public school if their parents choose so, receive equal treatment, a quality education, and be nurtured and safe in that environment. Within the public school system, a child should be able to attend a school that is a good fit for them, and be able to have safe transportation to and from school. No child should feel discriminated against by any school district employee, volunteer or their peers. The education offered at a public school should be of high standards and the teachers should strive to help all of their students be successful in their studies and in their growth in other ways as well.…
