A career that I am very interested in is a maternity/ labor and delivery nurse. I have always loved babies and small children more than anything! My favorite thing to do is babysit and hold babies anytime I am around them. I hope to someday have a few babies of my own. Helping women that are getting ready to have a baby will give me experience and information for when I am ready to have one while I am giving advice for them to use on their new adventure as parents! Helping people has always been something I look forward to doing and I love the feeling of knowing that I have helped someone throughout a stressful but exciting time! I do understand that sometimes there will be complications and stressful women in labor, but every job has its highs and lows.
In order to become a maternity nurse, there are some educational requirements. Usually it will include getting either a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in nursing. This can be either two or four years of school. After getting certified as a registered nurse, you will have to go to a midwifery school to specialize in labor and delivery. Once you are done with midwifery school, you must take a licensing exam and pass it. After passing your midwife licensing exam, you can go to work! You can begin this education progress by going to any school

You are to be with a pregnant woman from the time she enters the hospital all the way up until an hour or more after her baby is born. Your main job is to give the mother advice of how to take care of herself and the baby during labor and after the birth. You will also monitor the baby regularly before it is born and report any signs of complications to the doctor. You should make the woman and her spouse feel as comfortable as possible and provide them with tons of knowledge about becoming new parents.
