The transition from High School can often times be very frustrating for students. L. Lennie Irvin opened my eyes to one of the bad habits I picked up on in High school. The habit of straying from the topic or theme could cause me to fail not only papers in English but my other courses as well. I personally had a hard time with English my first semester of college. In High school I was always at the top of my class and my teachers would tell me how great of a writer I was.…

If I could go back to the past and talk to myself in September 2013, I would tell my younger self to be prepared for the next four years. I would advise myself to plan out my work and actually do assignments ahead of time instead of putting them off until nine o'clock the night before they were due. I would tell myself to not take honors trig because it was too much to handle combined with all of my other classes, as well as saying, that just because it was recommended to take a class, it doesn't mean I should've. I would recommend actually trying to do the workouts for field hockey before preseason. That way it wouldn't be so bad in the future.…

I walked into the familiar main entrance of the school, crossing my arms and setting my face into what I thought was an intimidating glare. Although I looked like an angry toddler, with my round face and childish glower, my attitude came across very clearly: I was not happy at all to be back at school. After getting into a huge fight with my friend group earlier that year, I was starting high school essentially friendless. It wasn’t as if I didn’t have another group of people to fall back onto.…

I grew up in what is considered a low income family, but I’ve always wanted to go to college. As I grew up, my goals became realistic. Instead of being president, however, I now want to do something that involves helping others and educating.…

I close off my conscience, brain remaining indefinitely in the vestibule, unable to escape to warn reason. Goosfraba… I shut the door, my ears, my mind, stoically putting up a façade of indifference towards the “melodious” – so they are described – double stops my sister painfully wriggles from her bow. Oh, how protean she is, making even Handel’s Sonata sound like a prostrated pugilist proofreading a portentous polonaise from the ink of which a pungent odor escapes, infiltrating nostrils and seeping in through the cracks of an already resigned soul. My Last Personal Statement When my time comes, I want to be remembered by the things I have achieved in school as well as my personal life. I want to be a role model to people or individuals who have went through what I have went through or situations where strength is needed to overcome.
