Personal Statement: I Want To Analyse My Own Psychiatric Practice

Decent Essays
Since the beginning of high school, I always wanted to start my own clothing line and have my own psychiatric practice. I know those two don’t really correlate but hey. The reason I want to commence my own clothing line is because as a petite female it is difficult finding clothes that actually fit. Frequently, either my clothes are too big or they are way too small and I’m not the only one with this problem. I want to make a clothing line that every size and gender can shop from. I just want to have a section for my petite women around the world. Now the reason I want to open my own psychiatric practice is because I love listening to people problems and I also want to become a doctor. If you put those two together that makes a psychiatrist.

Because I came into this counseling program to better help those individuals who suffer from addiction, I want to be able to balance my personal experience with addiction and my long history of sponsorship with my newly acquired clinical mental health counseling skills. I realize that addiction can be an amazingly difficult problem to treat. I know that it takes a strong minded, experienced sponsor to help individuals find their way to sobriety. I also believe that recovery must go beyond just being sober, and a mental health counselor is in a better position to help with compounding issues that a person who suffers from addiction faces. I want to be able to not only help a person stay sober, but help them have a fulfilling life, emotional…

My deep-seated belief that mind, body, and environment are interconnected, and my commitment to helping others improve their overall (not just physical or mental) wellness, as well as hopefully preventing illness in many cases, are my main motivations for wanting to be in the health field. From my childhood, I watched various family members struggle with food and substance addictions as a means of coping with life stressors, and I also observed their health deteriorate from the damage they were doing to themselves by not managing stress and anxiety properly. I hope to increase my knowledge throughout my graduate studies such that I can implement what I have learned to help individuals that otherwise might not understand how they can prevent many illnesses through behavior modification. That being said, one of the classes that had a…
