Extracurricular activities like the FFA and 4-H Organizations, help students, like me, gain experience in a variety of areas that will enhance our future. Through participation in these organizations, I have learned cooperation, teamwork and time management. By serving as an officer, I have also gained responsibility, as well as problem solving and communication skills. FFA has opened doors to new leadership roles at both a local and multi-county level. I have been given the opportunity to serve as Teutopolis Chapter and Section 20 Reporter and Vice President.…
As a Family Advocate, I work with families and children from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It is important to focus on building relationships of mutual trust, confidence, and respect for diverse families. After completing the observations, the anti-bias curriculum is a must to reflect the culture and background of the families and children in the program. Many families I work with are low income. My goal is to create an environment where children and families from different backgrounds can feel comfortable and belonging.…
I would like to serve as a Regional FFA Officer to give back to others and expand my reach to help others in need and to be a friend to those in need of one. We have in our motto “Living to Serve” may we serve our fellow man and fellow members to the best of our abilities. My greatest gift is the gift to teach and help others. This is a gift that is absolutely useless if not used to help others. I enjoy helping others, and I, like everyone else, and someone who helped me.…
As a salon manager you will want to make sure you will have competent employees who know what they are doing. You could help to influence the students in a positive way early on by giving them personal advice on certain styles and techniques that you may find to work better than others. Becoming more involved in the local school allows you to have some input on the students there and can give you an advantage over other salons in the area by already being known about which will help you to gain more clients if good words spread about you which will mean more work for you ending up in more money. Having more work and clients coming through your…

Since my freshman year of high school, my passion for agriculture has flourished. I did not come from an agricultural background as my parents worked for the State and Amtrak, but I was intrigued about California’s leading industry. Up until my freshman year in high school, the closest I had gotten to agriculture was when I would grow a garden of vegetables during the spring for fresh produce. I became involved in my school’s FFA chapter and was infatuated with the FFA from the start. I saw it as a way to become involved as well as to expand my leadership and social skills.…

Approaching the one year anniversary of my start date at NAVSEA, the force behind the ships in the United States Navy fleet, I want to return to school and take graduate courses in Engineering Management at Temple University. After graduating with a notable four year Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Widener University, in Chester, Pennsylvania, I immediately joined the working world ten days after graduation and gained sound experience by working in the Integrated Logistic Support as a Mechanical Engineer of NAVSEA. I am enjoying creating procedures and diagrams for all Navy ship 's systems to get them underway on the water. Every day I take and give away new knowledge by interacting with the group which compose of individuals who have served in the Navy for ten plus years to other engineers.…
Opportunity to Success I am not born to a rich family that has everything I want and need and clearly I am not born with any amazing skills either. I am just a normal person who is lucky enough to receive the wonderful opportunity of a formal education in America. Despite my family’s lack of English language skills and the limitations of my family’s resources, I have been able to navigate myself through the American educational system. With hard work, many hours of studying and dedication to school, I have found success in high school in just four years of speaking English. However, my hard work is not over yet.…
I feel that I will be able to make the client extremely comfortable and help them enjoy their stay while they get their hair done. I also believe that I am capable of learning all the information from cosmetology school and apply it to my future. Having all the steps to becoming a cosmetologist be in such a shortness of time people may get very overwhelmed, but I believe that I can succeed in this career field. Many people may doubt my ability to commit to this form of work, but I know that this is something I see myself exceling in the future. I would and will be perusing my career in this field because it is something I love to do.…
As my senior year recently came closer to an end, it became more clear that I was more unsure than ever as to what I wanted to do in life. School was not something I enjoyed and the thought of furthering my education taking random classes without knowing what I wanted to do seemed depressing. I decided I would enroll in the community college near my home in Alabama and get started on some basic classes. About a month after graduating, I was talking to my mom and she asked me what I wanted to do for a career. Still depressed and feeling anxious about the subject, I told her I really just wanted to go to cosmetology school.…

All my life I have been interested in communication. I originally thought that communication was just a passion, but now I realize it is what I want to do as a career. Public relations is the communication between an organization and the public. I want to act as that link of communication and I truly believe I can do so with the education I am receiving from the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism.…
