He has participated in the global war on terrorism, and when he participated, he helped a wounded warrior to medical attention. He was in Operation Iraqi Freedom campaigns, Iraqi governance, and the National Resolution campaign. He took part in Afghanistan campaigns, Consolidation 2 and 3, and Transition 1. He has served 18 years so far, and is presently stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
One way his service has improved my opportunities in life is, giving me knowledge and showing me how to do things. He raised me to be a good kid although sometimes I do accidently do bad things, he has shown me what’s right and wrong. He teaches me how to do good deeds and help out those in need. He has taught me how to live life as a good man and how to be a good parent for the future. He has given me the safety of knowing that I will be guarded and looked after. The freedom of having pride in myself and my country, and the opportunities to become anything I can imagine. A veteran to me is a patriotic, unselfish, brave, and courageous person, who would sacrifice time from their families to serve and protect our nation. As Jeff Miller once said, “The willingness of America’s Veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.” Veterans from every country have served throughout many wars. They have put their blood, sweat, and effort into doing the right and beneficial thing for their nation. Being a veteran means not only to serve in the military, but it means to have the selflessness and courage to go off to war to ensure the freedom of the nation.…

This nation veteran inspired me to become a healthcare professional, because of the sacrifices they have made for our country. Many veterans have been injured during the long wars, with many suffering life-altering experiences that have left lasting physical and physiological scars. However, many veterans don’t receive their full benefits, especially where it comes to healthcare because of the backlog of the VA caused by the Global War on Terror, mental illness, or red tape. As the dependent of a recently deployed veteran, I have witnessed the firsthand the struggles of a veteran’s reintegration. What a veteran means to me. The dictionary definition of a veteran is, a person who has has long experience in a particular field of the military, or a person who has served in the military. Federally, a veteran is someone who has served in ANY war, in ANY branch of military for ANY length of time. If you served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps or Navy you are considered a veteran. I believe that someone who can fight for strangers , people they don't even know, along with their own family even if they only served for a week, a year, twelve years, deserves more respect than anyone.…
