Motivation is vital. Motivation gives that person an extra boost when facing the task of reaching their goals; it gives the person a reason to do something. According (Kimball and Smith, 2013), a group of kids were convinced that they could achieve higher grades by working hard. This motivated the students to achieve what they wanted which was higher grades and that’s exactly what happened. This example could help a lot of people who care about achieving their life goals or completing tasks. This is proof that motivation has an effect when performing a task. Also an article by Epstein (2013) mentions one of the three groups of violinists who were considered successful and went on to achieve success as international soloists, unlike the other two. That one group was more motivated and wanted to reach their full potential, so that motivation helped them work and practice more until they were at the level that pleased them, (Epstein, 2013). In order to achieve success people have to take a few risks and that’s what learning goals are about. It’s about taking risks and not being afraid of failure. According to an article by Epstein (2013), a group of students were inspired to keep going and go for success. Those children used learning goals and faced failure; they eventually succeeded, Krakovsky (2007). This should show people that using learning goals would eventually lead to success; people shouldn’t be afraid of failure and should persevere until success is achieved. Also in the same article by Krakovsky (2013), a boy is mentioned and he reveals that he “loves a challenge”. This shows that the kid has learning goals; he isn’t afraid of failure and is willing to take risks. This proves that learning goals are effective and will help a person reach a level they strive for.
