I refuse to consider myself a good leader. A leader, no matter the experience, can always become better. There are many projects that I have participated in that focus on strengthening leadership abilities, and many roles I have held that have allowed me to grow as a leader. Over the past summer I was accepted into the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar program (HOBY). This intensive three day program focused on further developing the leadership skills of student participants. Now I am currently enrolled in the CRAFT Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. This program allows high school juniors and seniors to attend Morehead State University rather than continue on with regular high school. During my time at HOBY, I got to volunteer at an assisted living community where we visited with the residents and had an ice cream social. Over the summer I volunteered at my high schools band camp for two weeks by setting up all of the sound equipment they will need to perform at their competitions this winter. Also over the summer I volunteered at my local park during the fair and horse show by helping park cars. Some other extraneous service I have participated in include helping out at my church to run audio/video equipment on Sundays and Sunday nights, helping out at my middle school’s 21st after school program, and the 4-H carnivals hosted by my local
