Personal Statement: Getting Ready For The First Day Of School

Decent Essays
Getting ready for the first day of school each year is a lot of work. I get ready by shopping, getting into routine, and going to Open House! How do you get ready?

First, before school starts I always go shopping. I love shopping because I always go with my Nana! We either go to the Greensboro Mall or the Christiansburg Mall or both! I get some new Nike shoes, some Under Armour outfits, some Simply Southern shirts and some Vans! I adore going to Justice (Which is where most of my clothes come from.) at the Greensboro Mall! I usually get my book bag from Journey’s. For school supplies I go to Target or Walmart. I would rather go to Target because I think they have cooler supplies.

Second, I would need to start getting into routine.

The four retailers that I used for my comparison are Target, Dillons, Hyvee, and Walmart. The items I chose to compare at these retailers are 2% milk, Eggs, Turkey, Hot dog buns, Ketchup, Mayo and Brownie mix. I found it interesting to see the different variety from store to store as well as the price differences. The first retailer I went to was Target. Target would be considered a supercenter because they provide some grocery items as well as clothes, home décor, and toys.…

I can admit that since having a newborn here with a 5 year old it's gotten out of control. Sometimes things make it back in the pantry, and sometimes they don't. With all that being said I needed to organize that eye sore that we call a pantry, and I didn't want to spend a ton! Unfortunately being based in Alaska we don't have stores like back in the lower 48. Target's Dollar Spot is definitely the answer, and I love the outcome!…

This personal narrative is going to be about the first day of Middle School and my experiences as a 6th grader. It is going to go after my emotions and other descriptive details of the first day. I still remember how the seat belt felt tightening across my chest as the car got closer to the Middle School. During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

The struggle for waking up for school is real; the struggle and difficulty to change how early students go to school is a present problem. The United States has been quarreling around with the factors on making the education system the most effective it can be. With that being said, one of the issues being discussed is how advantageous schools would be with later start times. However, school starting at a later time can result in hurting the students in the long run, disputes between how beneficial it is to start at later times, and lastly looking whether it is financially wiser for the schools and students. Starting schools at a later start time would start a literal outrage and shock amongst peers and parents.…

It was a Thursday night, on my first week of kindergarten. I hadn’t made many friends because I was so use to playing with my sister, that I wasn’t sure if I knew how to make friends. I wasn’t shy when I was around my immediate family, but if you would put me in a room with people that I didn’t know. Well, I wouldn’t say a word. I would be so quiet that I would just sit there and you could forget that I was in the room.…

My first day of middle school was hell, I have always been good at school. My grades have never been bad and neither have my actions and or attendance. Probably from having a mom that is also a teacher. I look at that as a good thing though, watching kids just goof off and not come to school then high school rolled around and it was like I got to look down on them because they did not prepare for bigger and better things. School wasn't bad for me because it was hard, it was bad because i was always shy in school.…

I didn’t not know what I was expecting. On the first day of high school, I stepped into a crowd of students, waiting to enter the building that would become my second home for the next four years. I didn’ not know where I would stand among these highly accomplished individuals, or if I would even amount to the standards set before me. Self-doubt began to fester inside of me as soon as I stepped through the front doors. I expected less and less of myself as time went on.…

Short shorts. Short shorts as far as the eye can see. This is what I saw all over ETSU’s beautiful campus as I went one day without my cell phone. Initially, I thought nothing much would come out of the seemingly uninteresting assignment, but I was mistaken. It proved to be an eye-opening day, mostly because I saw how much students were on their phones, I learned that I am terrible at telling time, and I can now cope with my social anxiety instead of jumping to my phone.…
