Dia de los Muertos, also known as “Day of the Dead,” is a day of celebrating those who have passed away. People joyously build altars of their deceased loved ones and fill it with their favorite food and pan muerto, a sweet Spanish bread made only during this special day. Another day she enjoys is Dia de los Reyes or “Three Kings Day” on January 6th. This day encompasses the bible story of the three wise men who journeyed towards a star that lead them to the birthplace of Jesus Christ. She shared with me that there was a tradition where a family would cut the Rosca de Reyes, another Spanish bread, but shaped in a huge oval ring. The family members would take turns cutting a piece of the ring, and if in their piece they were to find a plastic baby Jesus figure, they would have to host a party on February
