Personal Statement For English Language

Around one in ten children suffer from speech and language difficulties, be it understanding or expressing their own needs. Through studying Speech and Language therapy (SALT) I hope to become a fully trained and accredited speech therapist, so that I can help to further improve the quality of a child’s communication and life.
Throughout my life I have always had a well-founded interest in English, through studying it at both GCSE and higher I have been able to further my interest into a well-developed admiration for the English language, I aim to use this passion to help young children and adults overcome the communication barriers they face on a day to day basis. Through studying English it has led me to develop my presentation skills along with expanding my underlying knowledge of the language. Studying psychology has allowed me to develop a stronger understanding of the human development and how that can differ between every individual.

Outside of school I am a keen photographer, this has led me to having my work in exhibits and visiting many new and exciting places for photo opportunities. I find that through

Taking on this role allowed for me to work with students and teachers on a one-one basis but also in larger groups, which allowed for me to develop my teamwork skills and interview techniques. Throughout this role I also became a ‘Peer mentor’ which allowed for me to form relationships with younger students and offer them help and advice when they needed it, I found this to be incredibly rewarding and gave me a great sense of accomplishment when I had successfully helped someone tackle something which was troubling
