Why I Want To Pursue A Science Degree

As the only child of a Professor, whose background is in Political studies, I was advised by my parents to move away from the field of Science and study Art. This was during my high school years, I was quite rebellious and decided to pursue my passion of Science even though they requested me to go to another path. My parents continued to try to influence my decision when I was admitted to the university, stating that Economics would be a good major to pursue and it will also give a good life. However, I rejected the thought and insisted that I will pursue my passion, which is in the fields of Physics and Microelectronics; I really wanted to study the most difficult subjects. During my junior year of college, my parents wished that I would continue my graduate studies at a top university in China, but my dream is to continually pursue my passion of science in America. …show more content…
My parents wanted me to stay and have a stable life, I don’t believe that the stability will foster my growth, this led me to not follow my parents’ advice and kept following my heart, which leads me to my passion of science. I have always been working hard to be the best and I wanted to ensure that my dream wasn’t just a dream but an actionable reality. After three years in the university, my dream has the definite direction, It is to do research on science and engineering, this is what I truly desire to pursue.
