I remember she had me write a report about what I wanted to be when I grew up. She returned the paper to me with all of these red marks and said, “See me after.” I left as fast as I could. The next day she said the same thing, it became a habit after a week, but she finally got me to stay. She said, “I have a job for you see me after.” I stayed in my mind a job meant money, money meant happy parents. She told me your job is to rewrite this essay, it is amazing! I want to enter you in a contest where you will compete against other high schools. I said, “No way, I am not going to win!” She said, “You will! I know you will!” I looked at her face and her smile and I believed her! She stayed after class with me until I finished that report. I was so excited to go to school again. I couldn’t wait until school ended so I could run to her classroom and learn. She entered me in that contest and I won! The contest was not about English, or language, reading or writing. It was about determination to succeed in a career. That year I learned to succeed in my writing because of her. I graduated and I kept my promise to God. I stayed away from friends, parting and dating. That year I feel in love with God. It was the best year
