I am double majoring in International Business with an emphasis in Spanish and Management. I am planning on studying abroad this summer in Austria. After graduating college, I plan on going to Law school and getting a MBA. With my degree, I plan on working for a multinational company, such as for Intel or Viacom. I want to work as a global business manager and eventually want to be a CEO of a company. Currently, only 11 women are CEOs for the Fortune 500 companies and I want to change that and show that women can make a difference and have the power. One of the skills that I have that will help me get a job is that I speak four languages. I speak English, Hindi, Punjabi and am proficient in Spanish. Being able to speak different languages

Being bilingual opens new horizons for several people in the world. If all people were bilingual, everyone would be able to communicate more fluently, without the need for translators or people stammering in attempt to talk in another language. Overall, having even a few words from a second “lengua” stashed in your memory for later use can benefit you immensely in the future. First of all, you could be a translator.…

At the age of twelve, I left the woman I love the most in Vietnam to start a new life with my dad in the United States. I was always wondering why my mom did not want to go with us, and our family could live together. But then as I have growing up, I realized that she sacrificed to stay there, so my dad can take care of me better. Remember the first day I went to an American middle school, I was clueless, difficulty in communication and the people around me have different cultures, and ethnicity. Across the Oceans “Don’t ever forget where you came from; otherwise, you’ll never remember where you’re going.” Leaving my thirteen years behind, I flew away from Nepal in 2013 in a hope that I’ll prove myself in the future fulfilling the dreams that I dreamed as a child. Flying away felt like leaving a piece of myself in the place where I spent my whole childhood for the place where I was going to spend my adolescence and my adulthood. I came from a place where the lack of electricity, water sources, transportation, employment, and health service still exist. Being born in a place where my dad spent his childhood and adulthood struggling to get a proper meal for a day makes me think how lucky I was to get to come to the place where it lacks nothing.…

In high school, besides being a member of the National Honor Roll, taking Advanced Placement courses, and playing on the Varsity Girl’s tennis team, I also had a love for tutoring. I started tutoring my sister, friends’ siblings, and those struggling academically. As part of my community service during my undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley (UCB), I tutored at Willard Middle School because Willard students do not typically aspire to pursue a higher education. I hope I was able to instill an appreciation of science and influence them to attend college. I also enjoyed learning foreign languages.…
