Decision to Start College

I have been impressed with the teaching methods that my professors have shown me on each occasion. I believe hard work along with the instruction from the teachers will prove to me that South University is my college that will afford me the opportunities that a higher learning degree can offer. There is more to college than studying and making desirable grades, it also requires work ethic, experience, and looking ahead at future plans.
Studying and learning new things is important as a college student. I understand that students need to ensure they have allotted the necessary time for their homework because their grades reflect their work ethic. As a student here at South University, I have seen firsthand that the facility goes out of their way to make learning interactive and fun. This interaction is what draws me to achieve the best possible grades.

As a retired Soldier, I know this dedication to achieve excellence will serve me well with my endeavors. I look forward to the first day of the new semester as an orientation for that class and cannot wait to get started. My colleagues may not yet appreciate the importance of their syllabus, if they only knew that once they are in the work force they will not get such a road map that succinctly explains their job responsibilities and scope.
Experience is something you don’t appreciate until you need it. As a mature student, I have already learned my limitations and know when things make sense. I knew while I was an active duty Soldier that I could only focus on one thing at time in order to be successful. I put going to college on the back burner until such a time as I could focus on doing a great job. My job now is professional college student. Since I only have to focus on being a great student my grades reflect that effort and I intent to constantly improve on that success each

I have opted to enter college “undecided”. I have done so in order to prevent myself from switching majors multiple times once enrolled as so many others have been known to do. Rather, I plan to complete my prerequisite courses during my freshman and into my sophomore year. Then, once I’ve had the opportunity to speak with others in the career trajectories of my interests (anatomy/physiology, anthropology, medical technology), I’ll make a decision on the additional courses I will need to take toward my decided major. Once I have a degree in my desired field, I hope to get a job directly out of college in order to begin paying off the student loans that I accumulate.…

Personal Statement I grew up in a mainly Hispanic household, where all we spoke was Spanish. When I was hanging out with my friends I spoke more English than Spanish. As a kid, the transition was hard to get used to, but I grew older it became easier day by day. Also changing my personality to be more outgoing and creative to adjust to the life of a high student, was difficult since I used to be quiet and self-conscience. What made me different from everyone was that I became great at writing stories from any genre.…

The first major event that I will identify as having influenced my decision to go to college is receiving the honor of captain of my school’s debate team. Now this influenced me in two ways: The first being that I was now responsible for not only my own success but other people’s success in this program. The second being that this was my first serious engagement as a leader in my school. I struggled with finding a balance between my team’s success and my own and never actually found the perfect equilibrium. Although I never found this harmony, the interaction with other students and their stories led me to my fondness for teaching.…
