House Of The Scorpion: A Short Story

Would you like to live in a disgusting cabin in the middle of a dark, eerie forest for a week? I don’t think so. I didn’t want to, but I was forced to. It all started when my parents woke my three siblings and me very early, like at 5:00 a.m just to tell us that we were going on a road trip to Marble Forest. Never heard of it and I never want to. I just wanted to sleep. I put my head down again, but I found myself being dragged out of bed. I got ready and our parents helped us pack everything we needed. Soon, everyone was set and ready to go.

The trip to Marble Forest took eight hours so to pass time, I was reading a book called The House of the Scorpion. It was such a good book. It didn’t feel like eight hours had passed by but they sure did. Just when I reached the best part, I realized my parents were calling me. We finally reached the cabin. The exterior of the cabin looked…. interesting. It had a small, dull red door and some of the paint was peeling off. Beside the door stood a woman. She was tall, had blue eyes, dirty-blonde hair, and pale skin. She immediately ran up to us and introduced herself timidly,

The interior of the cabin wasn’t so bad but it definitely doesn’t deserve a lot of credit. There was a foul smell inside the cabin and the whole place looked ominous and modest. I know it doesn’t sound that bad, but the sight was completely different. I guess I just wasn’t used to living in a cabin. Anyway. I was so exhausted from waking up early for that trip, I decided to take a nap. I ran to the room I would share with my sister and jumped on one of the beds. It wasn’t even soft, but I was so tired, the second my head hit the pillow, I was sound

My favorite constellation is Scorpius ("The Scorpion") due to the fact that I am a Scorpio (my birthday is November 15th). Scorpius is the southernmost constellation out of all the Zodiac constellations and is near the center of the Milky Way. Also, the red star, Antares, is located where the Scorpion's heart is supposed to be. The star is red because it should be going out soon. The Scorpion's heart may either turn into a black hole (which many describe our hearts to be like) or a new star.…
