Through every step a child makes I would want to be there to help and support them in their decision making. My current field placement is with Creekview Intermediate School which is providing me with many learning opportunities. I’ve learned you need to connect with the children in some way or another for them to open up to you. One way I’ve learned to do this is through playing games or drawing. However, I have recently come to realize that I am very interested in mental health in addition to school social work. If I decide to specialize in this I hope to get my Licensed Independent Social Worker licenses (LISW) and work for a small agency. Either path I choose to take I will need to further my education in social work and get my master’s degree. A few experiences I’ve learned through the bank would include professionalism by positively representing where you work, how to dress appropriately, team collaboration, workplace integrity, and responsibility. “People skills” and helping resolve financial problems are other talents I’ve learned through the bank as well. You always need to positively represent where you work as a social worker in a manner that illustrates that you are proud of your career. Social workers work with people on a daily basis, making “people skills” imperative. Helping resolve financial problems is one of the most rewarding things I can do as a teller. It will be a skill that I will have in the event that I am approached by a client’s family regarding financial predicaments. I’ve also volunteered for the local civic center, Richwood Green. Volunteering there has given me a different experience compared to the rest of my involvement. Instead of working with children here I work with the elderly. Working with a different age group is always a learning opportunity for me. I’ve seen that you need to be more patient with the elderly and more willing to sit back and listen to what they say. At the civic center I am working with the director to form a “Human Library” group. This is where we have the senior citizens tell a story of their life to another community member. This group will
