Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field.…
The game of baseball has always been in my life since I was a child. My love for the game began when I was five years of age signing up for tee ball at the local little league. As a child, I would imagine myself as a professional ballplayer. I would mimic my idols every chance I had or I would dream of myself being in a critical situation to win the game and to make history. Now, I am chasing my dream by trying to become one of those greats who played the game.…
n today’s game of baseball, overpaying for free agents is inevitable. If you want to sign your guy, you are going to make sure nobody outbids you in the process. Nowadays, it seems like every free agent is getting overpaid. Seven years and $161 million for Chris Davis? Eight years at $184 million for Jason Heyward?…
I would definitely consider the job that I had during my internship as a future career. Lacrosse is something that I am very passionate about, and I want it to be part of my life even after I stop playing. I am also really interested in business administration and sports management. My internship gave me the opportunity to grow and expand my skill set, and also learn a great deal about what I want to do after college. Interning at Revolution Lacrosse (REV), I was able to learn so much about sports management, how it works, and how it can be applied in the workforce.…
I have one brother and two sisters. My brothers name is Alec and my sisters names are Hannah and Clarissa. Clarissa is the oldest one, then it's Hannah, Alec, then me. I'm the youngest in the family. Everyone in my family plays a sport, the girls in the family play softball because our mom and aunt played since they were little and carried it onto us.…
My first game is just around the corner. I am at baseball practice in the batting cages with my brother, Nick. We are both wearing our baseball helmets.. “Pitching to you is my favorite,” Nick sarcastically said to me.…
I'm not a coward nor a scaredy cat that fears. I just had a feeling that something would happen, just not to me at baseball practice for some reason. My gut usually told me the truth. So I had a really strong feeling about something would happen.…
Baseball was the majority of my summer weekends, and I would have it any other way. Long weekends at hotels all across the state from Battle Creek to Frankenmuth, we played baseball where ever it was to be played. But these stages could not prepare me for where I was about to play next. The University of Dayton baseball stadium, the nicest natural field I have ever played on. It was beautiful from the seats, the mound, the outfield wall, it was all gorgeous.…
All throughout one’s life, you must encounter obstacles, face adversity head on, and keep your head high all the while. Thankfully, as a child, I wasn’t always alone in completing tasks or accomplishing things. My friends, family, and people around me in life were quite often to help me, but there were times that I had to accomplish things on my own. As I grew up, I began to hate asking people for help, and I wanted to try things for myself. I felt like it was cheating to ask for help, because in life after high school, aren’t you usually having to do things by yourself?…
When I grow up I want to be a MLB baseball player there are many reasons why I want to and what position I want to play. When I grow I want to play professional baseball. I always wanted to play baseball since I was about 5. I used to like the cubs. Then, when I turned about 9-11 years old don’t know when exactly, but I became a Yankee fan.…
Almost every child we spoke to in some way aspired to be a professional baseball player in America, some out of amazement, and some out of necessity. They just don’t dream about baseball though, they play it, constantly. They are extremely good at it, and are constantly being scouted by American teams, both in the minor and major leagues. When we decided to play baseball with them, many laughs were had, but you could tell sometimes they’d have to bite their lip considering how bad we all were.…
My recurrent shoulder dislocations were a constant battle, but a battle in which I’d always won. After a dislocation, all it took was a couple weeks of physical therapy before I could return to the baseball field. Although, after my fifth dislocation I ended up sitting in the hospital awaiting the results of my MRI with an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. My surgeon soon returned with news that my injury required a season-ending surgery. Thus, I had a Bankart Repair on my throwing shoulder, and afterwards, although devastated, I supported my teammates from the sidelines for the entirety of the season.…
This last school year I moved to Nebraska to live there for awhile. While I was there I went to school and played my favorite sport baseball. I was very excited for our first practice, and our first game. My excitement skyrocketed when coach told me at the end of practice that I would start at shortstop and close the game pitching.…
I have had the dream of playing professional baseball since I was old enough to swing a baseball bat. I remember watching the Texas Ranger play on Tv when I was young and I aspired to be like them one day. The odds are not in my favor to accomplish this goal. However, I know that if I keep working my hardest every single day that maybe one day I will be able to accomplish this goal.…
Hello Lauren, is there any particular location that interests you when referring to literature (i.e. British Literature, American Literature)? You said that you were looking into other fields; what other fields interests you and why? I am going into Political Science to become a lawyer; what is the profession you want if you get a degree in literature? As someone who does not enjoy reading, what would you do to try and persuade me to read more often?…
