What makes a seventeen-year-old young boy decide he want to do medicine? For me, I have always had a strong interest in the sciences, especially in human physiology. At a young age, I was unfortunately present at the death of cancer sufferers, this was a real shock to me, seeing lives end so early. In the next decade, cancer incidence and mortality will increase significantly in China caused by pollution.Thirty-three percent of Chinese families will exhaust all of their savings for the treatments of cancer. I felt helpless and I wanted to be in a position to make a difference. Deep in my heart I sense the urge to act, to do something, to help, therefore my aspiration for a career in medicine had just begun.
