I am excited to have such a role in my student’s life and help them become the best person they can be. I chose the placement option for my final exam and I am extremely glad I was able to do that. Talking with my old teachers and seeing the happiness on their faces when I told them I hope to be doing what they are someday was rewarding. Most of them were surprised that I chose this route because of the pay, but I think they also reminded themselves that they didn’t care about that aspect either when they decided to pursue a teaching career. Being able to sit in their classroom not as a student, but as a friend was different. I felt I was getting honest answers from them when I asked them about the ups and downs of being a teacher. I am striving for my students to want to learn and enjoy coming to my classroom, even if things outside might not be the best. I always have had respect for what teachers do, but I never fully acknowledged the extent of how much work they put into their job. For starters, the discussions dealing with paying attention to the community we are working in and how that impacts our teaching were enlightening. I was very fortunate to have a great school that supplied us with the tools we needed to learn. However, after hearing the lack of materials my other classmates had, I realized those teachers had to work with what they had while also providing a supportive learning environment. I consider myself creative, but I am not the best at improvising. My ideal life would be able to plan everything out and have everything go smoothly. After taking this course, I’ve learned this doesn’t happen too often for teachers and I must give them a lot of credit for being quick on their feet. I am excited for the CARE partnership because I feel it will help me feel more comfortable with student teaching later in college. I definitely think my first will be difficult and stressful, but it will also pave the way for the rest of my years in
