My motivation for becoming a social worker comes from some of the experiences in my past. I’ve always been that shoulder for my friends to lean on. My friends know that I am there when no one else will be. Growing up I always wanted to be a Chef. Around the age of 15 that changed. At thirteen I found out that my dad had a brain tumor. Eventually I would like to receive my doctorate degree in social work. With my degree’s I would like to become a case manager that is a public health servant for the government while working at a federal prison or at a Veteran’s Affairs Hospital. I have another idea to work as a social work in child services and eventually open up my own facility for pregnant mothers between the ages of 15-20. I feel that both of these options would be great plans for me to have, but being in these social work classes has made me somewhat unsure about the type of social worker that I would like to be.
