A pediatric oncologist is a doctor who primarily treats patients with leukemia, lymphoma, embryonal tumors and genetic blood disorders, such as sickle-cell anemia and hemophilia. I choose this career because my father has a chronic illness and I have always been involved in his treatments and appointments. This environment lead me to consider a possibility of a career in the medical field. I believe this is a perfect career choice because I love working with kids and I wanted a career in which I would be able to maximize my opportunities to help the less fortunate. I enjoy the opportunity of creating relationships with others and to be able to create these relationships while helping them is an unimaginable feeling.But I am also intrigued by science and the unknown making this the perfect career for myself.

They have other physicians under them and other healthcare workers as well. Some may also be teachers and so they would have to work with their students. This job requires kindness, patience and understanding of others situations. This job is indoors and it has a lot of mental stress.The hours are at least 40 hrs per week and depending on whether they are academic pediatric oncologist or clinical pediatric oncologist they may have a rotating shift. There is not a lot of traveling involved, but if a pediatric oncologist wants to help out in developing countries then there would be a lot of travelling
